It brings us great joy to share a quick update on how Hunger Relief International (HRI) continues to make powerful strides to fight food insecurity and malnutrition amidst disasters and civil unrest in Haiti and Guatemala!

7 COMMUNES IN SOUTHERN HAITI SUPPORTED BY HRI THANKS TO WORLD FOOD PROGRAM PARTNERSHIP:
✅ 14,704 households (92,631 people) received vital food assistance in southern Haiti at 19 different sites.
✅ 5,968 children screened for malnutrition.
✅ 178 community education sessions reached 3,188 mothers, pregnant women, and caregivers.

3 GUATEMALA SCHOOLS SEE ATTENDANCE GROWTH THANKS TO HRI PROGRAMS:
✅ 69 households (414 people) in southern Guatemala receive vital monthly food baskets so their children will go to school nourished and ready to learn.
✅ 167 households (1,002 people) in the Highlands of northwestern Guatemala benefit from take-home food baskets to combat hunger at home, and personal hygiene products (sanitary napkins particularly) for adolescent girls—ensuring health, dignity, and continued school attendance.

SERVING INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS IN HAITI FOLLOWING CIVIL UNREST:
✅ 36,000 clean water and 29,200 potable water served 30,359 displaced persons in Haiti at three different sites.
✅ Dozens received hygiene supplies and tarps.
✅ As part of our ongoing efforts to protect health and prevent disease during the rainy season, HRI continues to facilitate health and hygiene awareness sessions at multiple sites for internally displaced persons in Haiti. These trainings help communities understand and mitigate the risks of cholera and other waterborne illnesses.
✅ Multiple HRI supported orphanages have had to flee with the children due to extreme gang violence. HRI has continued to support these orphans as they live in temporary homes, schools and other shelters, rebuilding their lives by providing food, water, shoes, clothes, hygiene supplies and more.

A FEW MORE HRI PROGRAMS:
✅ 10 Orphanages (375 orphans) receive nourishing food every month, and many benefit from monthly or quarterly hygiene supplies, clean water, propane for cooking, shoes, clothing and more!
✅ Several ongoing programs continue to serve extremely vulnerable children with food, water filters, safe cookstoves, latrines, medical support, mattresses, and more!

LAUNCHING SOON:
✅ HRI was just awarded 2 grants in June and will soon be launching our Electrification Project to equip 7 health centers in southern Haiti with sustainable and reliable solar-powered electricity systems, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to improve the quality, accessibility, and safety of maternal and neonatal care, particularly during nighttime and emergencies, ultimately resulting in a 20% increase in women using health centers for deliveries, reducing maternal mortality by 30%, and reducing neonatal (baby) mortality by 20%. Our hope is to secure additional funding soon so we can provide every mother a water filter to take home after delivery!
✅ HRI also continues to apply for grants for supplemental programs that will take these initiatives from emergency response to long-term community development. Our holistic approach to development takes us from saving lives through transforming entire communities.

HRI's commitment to serving vulnerable families remains unwavering. We continue to mobilize communities, track nutritional trends, and ensure no one is left behind. Our hope is to ensure every family devastated by natural and manmade disasters has nourishing food and access to safe water, good sanitation and hygiene to ensure good health, development and a more hopeful future! Together, we are building resilience and restoring dignity — one household at a time.
