Hunger Relief International (HRI) announced on Thursday (Oct. 11) it will be launching Beat Hunger, a multi-media awareness campaign to benefit Haitians living in extreme poverty.

On Oct. 18, Beat Hunger will release a series of pre-recorded videos in support of the campaign to air on television and online. Following a rhythmic theme, the videos will feature messages from percussionists, drummers and DJs that include Mix Master Mike, Stewart Copeland of The Police, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Sheila E., Kenny Aronoff, Stephen Perkins, Kristen Gleeson-Prata of BØRNS and Rico Nichols of Kendrick Lamar‘s live band.

“Haiti is our close neighbor. We at HRI are absolutely committed to help those impacted by extreme poverty, a group numbering in the millions. Our Haitian team works with the goal of ending chronic hunger and resolving food insecurity for the long term,” said Rachel Zelon, founder of HRI, in a statement. “We are extremely grateful to have assembled a wonderful group of musicians to bring attention to the ongoing difficulties facing Haitians.”

Copeland added, “This is the proper use of a megaphone … we’re banging up a noise to get society to focus on what can be done to beat hunger on this earth.”

Beat Hunger was created and produced by Matt Williams of Addition Media.
