Hunger Relief International is working with 46 rice and bean farmers in the “bread basket” of Haiti. All of the rice and beans provided to 29 orphanages in and around Port au Prince are purchased from farmers in the Artibonite region of the country. This has created a reliable and stable source of income for farmers and their families. In addition, the positive impact on these families is trickling down to other providers of goods and services locally – thus strengthening the local economy in distinct sectors. It is an amazing way to support the needs of orphans and vulnerable children and “kick start” the local economy for farmers that have faced significant challenges in recent years.
Hunger Relief International is proud to support local farmers, their families and the children of Haiti! Please join us as we work towards expanding these efforts.
